Program: Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year 
Mike Babauta and Faith Doctor
Mike is area director of Thurston County Boys & Girls Clubs, - Lacey, Olympia, Rochester, Tenino and Yelm. He reviewed the process of selecting the County Youth of the Year who goes on to further compete at state level.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The contenders prepare essays, attend an interview evaluation and present a three-minute speech for judges. They are expected to define what matters to them, obstacles they have overcome and their goals for the future.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
As Thurston County's Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year, Faith Doctor explained how she overcame anger, grief and addiction, returned to the Boys & Girls Club and found a new family. She is now excited about her future.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Faith is a senior at Timberline High School and will attend South Puget Sound Community College's Nursing Program with a two-year waiver of her tuition as a result of being selected Youth of the Year.
 
 
 
 
 
 
FELLOWSHIP: Kathy Houston
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
A Girl Scout leader and executive for 63 years, Kathy reminded us it was Girl Scouts' Day (108 years) and she shared some cookies with everyone. Upon learning there were 13 Girl Scout volunteers attending today, Kathy donated 13 dollars to the Club Fund.
 
Kathy opened the moment for anyone to contribute scouting volunteer stories of which there were a number.

 Greg Cuoio needs volunteers to be a part of a three-Club effort to build a tiny house for transitional housing. Be a mentor or a worker or just be at the Market Skills Center with high school age builders.  A grant has been acquired from Rotary International.
 
 
Food Bank Thursday: The third Thursday of each month at 5:30 PM, our Club supports the Food Bank at its warehouse on Mottman Road on the city's west side.
